Synopsis

A wilderness you never knew existed: the Iberian Peninsula is known as one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations, but beyond its beaches, cities and culture lies one of Europe’s richest and least expected wildernesses. Across Spain and Portugal, Iberia: Europe’s Wild West reveals a wild world of mist-filled mountains, golden grasslands and hidden ocean life. Brown bears, wolves and lammergeiers survive in the rugged north, while the dehesa shelters Iberian lynx, mongooses and short-toed eagles. Offshore, dolphins enter Lisbon’s waterways, orcas patrol the Atlantic coast and fin whales glide near the Balearic Islands. Through three cinematic journeys, the series uncovers the natural forces that shape Iberia’s landscapes, wildlife and cultural identity.
